Simplification of Packet-symbol Decoding with Deletions, Mis-ordering of Packets, and No Sequence Numbers

چکیده
A new method is described which builds on Mitzenmacher’s idea of adding a different pseudo-random number to each packet to help in verification-based decoding low density codes with packet deletions or errors, or out-of-order receptions, and no sequence numbers. The new method has less decoding complexity and is applicable to any parity check code structure, not just low density codes. Performance depends on the weight distribution of the code. For deletions with ordered reception, the method tolerates, roughly, up to only one more deletion, or packet error, than an erasure channel that knows the positions of all packet errors or deletions. With out-of-order reception, it tolerates, roughly, up to only two more deletions than the erasure channel. Also, it is shown how convolutional codes can further simplify decoding through a partition of the verification search. Moreover, with a modest amount of error detection built into the data, most of the deficiency relative to the erasure channel can be overcome by using error detection to choose from a small list of possibilities.

Feature Extraction to Identify Network Traffic with Considering Packet Loss Effects
There are huge petitions of network traffic coming from various applications on Internet. In dealing with this volume of network traffic, network management plays a crucial rule. Traffic classification is a basic technique which is used by Internet service providers (ISP) to manage network resources and to guarantee Internet security. In addition, growing bandwidth usage, at one hand, and limit...
متن کاملAnalysis on Packet Resequencing for Reliable Network Protocols
Protocols such as TCP requires packets to be accepted (i.e., delivered to the receiving application) in the order they are transmitted at the sender. Packets are sometimes misordered in the network. In order to deliver the arrived packets to the application in sequence, the receiver’s transport layer needs to temporarily buffer out-of-order packets and re-sequence them as more packets arrive. E...

In this paper, loss probabilities and steady state probabilities of data packets for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network are investigated under the buffer division and push-out schemes. Data packets are classified in classes k which arrive in Poisson fashion to the service facility and are served with general service rate under buffer division scheme, finite buffer space N is divided in...
متن کاملNew High Secure Network Steganography Method Based on Packet Length
In network steganography methods based on packet length, the length of the packets is used as a carrier for exchanging secret messages. Existing methods in this area are vulnerable against detections due to abnormal network traffic behaviors. The main goal of this paper is to propose a method which has great resistance to network traffic detections. In the first proposed method, the sender embe...

Multiple description (MD) coding has evolved as a promising technique for promoting error resiliency of multimedia system in real-time application programs over error-prone communicational channels. Although multiple description lattice vector quantization (MDCLVQ) is an efficient method for transmitting reliable data in the context of potential error channels, this method doesn’t consider disc...
